Go Beyond the Ring Workshop
Colorado’s maker scene is thriving — Denver and Boulder have Stryker Studio, Boulder School of Metals, Wabi-Sabi Metals Studio, and the Boulder Metalsmithing Association, all offering excellent jewelry classes. If you’ve done a ring-making workshop or a weekend stacking rings class and you’re ready for the next level, our intensive silversmithing course teaches you the full range of professional techniques in one weekend.
SilverSmithingClass.com is located on the Oregon Coast in North Bend — a short flight from Denver and a world away from the Front Range. Our two-day class covers everything from torch soldering and bezel fabrication to stone setting and professional finishing. You don’t make one ring — you learn the complete skill set to create pendants, rings, bracelets, and earrings on your own.
How We’re Different from Colorado Workshops
Full technique training, not just one project. Most Denver and Boulder jewelry workshops focus on completing a single piece — a ring, a pendant, or earrings — in a 3-hour session. That’s fun, but you leave knowing how to make that one thing. Our 12-hour intensive teaches the underlying skills: how to solder, how to fabricate bezels, how to set stones, how to finish. You leave able to design and create your own pieces from scratch.
Professional soldering with a torch. Many beginner workshops in Colorado use cold connections, adhesives, or pre-made settings. We teach hard silver soldering — the permanent, professional joining technique that real silversmiths use. Once you learn this, you can build anything.
Colorado’s gem and mineral community is your supply chain. The Denver Gem & Mineral Show, Colorado Springs Gem and Mineral Society, and countless rock shops along the Front Range mean you’ll never run out of beautiful cabochons to set once you know how. Learn the silversmithing techniques with us, then source your stones locally back home.
Getting Here from Colorado
Fly Denver (DEN) to Portland (PDX): About 2.5 hours, multiple daily flights on United, Southwest, and Frontier. From Portland, it’s a 4-hour scenic drive south to our studio. Or fly to Eugene (EUG) for a 2-hour drive to the coast.
Weekend plan: Fly in Friday evening, class Saturday and Sunday, fly home Sunday night or Monday. The Oregon Coast in any season is spectacular — and the cool ocean air is a welcome break from Colorado’s dry altitude.
