One Weekend Class. Two Art Show First Place Wins.

Tyran Cartledge took our Beginning Silversmithing class in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma a few years ago. Here’s what happened next:

“I wanted to let you know how thankful I am that I took your Beginning Silversmithing class. Because of your two-day class I’ve been able to make some pretty cool stuff. It’s overwhelming how much people love it and want to buy pieces from me or even have me make custom pieces for them. I’ve met so many nice lapidaries and silversmiths over the past couple of years. It’s a great community of people.”

“I won 1st place in the Cherokee Nation Trail of Tears Art Show. And I won 1st place in the Cherokee Homecoming Art Show this summer. I’m still amazed at how one weekend learning from you has changed my life. I truly will be forever grateful.”

That’s not marketing copy — that’s a real student who took one weekend class and built a jewelry career from it. Tyran’s story is what our class is designed to do: give you professional silversmithing skills in two days so you can start creating immediately.

Oklahoma’s Connection to Silversmithing

Oklahoma has deep roots in Native American jewelry traditions — Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole silverwork has been part of the state’s cultural heritage for generations. The Indian art show circuit across Oklahoma, from Tulsa to Oklahoma City to Broken Arrow, celebrates this tradition every year.

Whether you want to connect with that heritage, start selling jewelry at art shows, or simply learn a hands-on creative skill, our weekend class gives you the foundation. You’ll learn the same silver soldering and stone setting techniques used by Native American silversmiths — not simplified shortcuts.

Getting to Our Classes

We currently teach at our studio on the Oregon Coast in North Bend. Oklahoma students typically fly into Portland (PDX) — direct flights run from Tulsa and Oklahoma City on American and United. From Portland, it’s a scenic 4-hour drive to the coast, or fly to Eugene (EUG) for a 2-hour drive.

Weekend plan: Fly in Friday, take the class Saturday and Sunday, fly home Sunday evening or Monday. The Oregon Coast is unlike anything in Oklahoma — dramatic ocean cliffs, lighthouses, old-growth forests, and some of the best seafood you’ll ever eat.
